From Karl Lagerfeld, Jean-Yves takes the work and nothing else, along with one simple idea: you dress better when you set yourself rules. He has set his own, a range running from black to grey to very dark blue, and he almost never strays from it. Without colour, everything rests on the material and the cut, and the slightest mistake shows. He builds outfits that will still be right in ten years.
